Tapet-Cafe and Farrow & Ball present

The Nordic Edit

a curated palette of colours designed to excite
& inspire a new Scandinavian look

The Nordic Edit is a palette of colours, drawn from the British paint-maker Farrow & Ball's larger collection, and hand-picked by Jannik Martensen-Larsen, the head of Danish interior design house Tapet-Cafe.

With its contemporary influences and distinctly Scandinavian spirit, the Nordic Edit colour palette is a celebration of Scandinavian hues in all their variety. The Nordic Edit colour palette embraces the classic, subtle, softer neutral shades of grey and white traditionally celebrated in Scandinavia. Grey, white and neutral hues are accentuated by the region's unmistakable clear northern light, in both its nature and architecture. However, other more striking, intense, and bold primary colours also define the Nordic countries. These are apparent in their colourful cities, as well as contemporary Scandinavian art and mid-century design.

The Nordic Edit colour palette combines both the classic neutrals and the modern primary colours, in a striking and courageous way, creating a tool that invites its users to be creative, daring and adventurous.

Tapet-Cafe and Farrow & Ball both hold a deep love of colour, and are very proud and excited to celebrate and share this love with this new collaboration.

The Story Behind the Palette

«Colours, art, and decoration are an incredibly important part of my life. Combining a deep colour with a vibrant tone, next to a subtler tone, can create a powerful effect — and the result, as you'll see here, is a striking and sophisticated palette for both modern and classic interiors.

My approach to colour is both conscious and exploratory. I am captivated by primary and very intense colours, often with inspiration from contemporary Scandinavian art and Mid-Century design, but also by understated and neutral hues from architecture and nature.

Most importantly, I wanted this colour palette to be dynamic and expressive. My wish was to create a bold, modern colour palette rooted in good taste and aesthetic — a tool for designers and architects and private clients alike, who dare to imagine the great things that can arise out of a visionary use of colour.»
